Bailey Ranger 550/6

The 2006 Ranger from Bailey promised to deliver a well-designed, well-equipped yet affordable caravan, you get a lot of bang for your buck.  These caravans make excellent secondhand purchases and this example is no exception.

This Ranger features a very practical 6 berth layout, with rear fixed bunks, a side dinette that folds into two further bunks and front bench seats which make a large double bed.

Externally, a fully bonded exterior body shell with modern graphics all features ABS front and rear panels and Grade 11 insulated walls, floor and roof, on a lightweight Al-Ko chassis with gas-assisted handbrake and the caravan sits on smart 14” wheels.

At the front of the caravan, a panoramic front window and Heki 2 tilting sunroof enhance the feeling of light and space in the seating area which converts into a 6’6” x 4’2” double bed with an easy pull out roller-slated system.  Modern “Pacific’ design soft furnishings with coordinated curtains and scatter cushions and Cherry wood furniture give the Ranger a contemporary look.  There are practical loose fit drop in carpets over hardwearing laminate effect flooring.  All the windows are double-glazed units, with Remis flyscreens and blinds to all main windows.

Moving back through the caravan the kitchen is well-appointed and features a Thetford fridge,   Spinflo recessed 4 burner hob and flush fitting glass lid and a Spinflo combined grill and domestic style glass fronted oven.  There is also a Spinflo recessed sink with a draining board and ceramic mixer tap.  Room for food preparation is provided with a laminated worktop with matching edging.

Heating and hot water is provided by the tried and tested Truma 3002 3kw gas heater and  Utraheat system, featuring silent running night setting and blown air distribution system, which ensures warmth throughout the caravan.  Hot water is piped to the kitchen and washroom via the   Truma Ultrastore water heater which is dual fuel (electric and gas).

At the rear of the caravan, there are two fixed bunks, and just to the left of the habitation door is a side dinnette which also becomes 2 more bunks. The front living areas two bench seats fold out to give a large double bed.

The Series 5 incorporates a mains RCD-protected electric system with two 230v sockets, 12v internal lighting, tv station and sockets and switch mode battery charger.
